15 Tourist Attractions To Skip When In Los Angeles

When visiting a city like Los Angeles, hitting all the attractions and jumping on activities you’ve heard of is tempting. But, many times, you have to choose a few. We don’t want you to participate in an experience you have high expectations of and be disappointed, so we made this list to help you make the most of your tour. It contains 15 places it’s okay to miss out on.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Walk of Fame is one of LA’s most popular places, and many people have dreamt of visiting it. Sadly, it has proven underwhelming for countless visitors. Many people say the area is dirty, and some say it doesn’t feel safe for them, especially with the crowds present and people trying to rip others off their money.

Rodeo Drive

One thing that comes to the mind of many when they hear Rodeo Drive is luxury. As one of the world’s most expensive places, shopping there is too pricey. Except you just want to window shop or tick it off your list, you may not have the best time here if you aren’t rolling in cash.

Madame Tussauds Hollywood

Wax museums feature people and characters, and Madame Tussauds is a big name in the industry. People who love wax sculpting may not find anything special about it compared to other museums they’ve visited. Plus, many people would rather wait to take a picture with a real celeb than with their wax version.

Grauman’s Chinese Theatre

There are handprints of celebrities outside the theater in the courtyard, and they can be fun to look at, but after a while, it starts to get boring. Getting inside the theater means you want to see a movie, so unless you want to part with some money, you can let this place slide.

Hollywood Sign

First, you should know that you won’t get to touch the Hollywood sign; the best you’ll get is to get close enough to take a picture. If knowing this negates your expectations, you know it’s probably not for you. Also, getting some views of the sign will involve some hiking, which may be stressful for some.

Universal CityWalk

We are not saying Universal CityWalk is not an exciting place. It contains many eateries and snack spots. People can also shop for games, fashion items, and beauty products there. However, if you’re not going to Universal Studios or a specific destination in the district, you may be better off visiting an entertainment district closer to you.

Celebrity Homes Tours

“Homes tour” sounds like you’ll see Brad Pitt’s kitchen or Lady Gaga’s guest rooms, right? That’s not the case, though. You don’t get to enter the houses, and chances are you’ve probably seen better house designs than what you may find there. Stops at certain houses may be rushed, too.

Hollywood Wax Museum

Still on wax museums, the Hollywood Wax Museum is an alternative to the Madame Tussauds. It costs some dollars to enter and looking at sculptures of celebrities may not just cut it for those who prefer real life experiences. Considering that some visitors have claimed not to be impressed with their art, you may want to rethink it.

LA Live

LA Live is a popular place and has hosted major entertainment awards. In addition to the event deck, there are restaurants, theaters, and other facilities. However, if you’re not going there for an event, you may find a visit unnecessary, and their restaurants may cost more than your budget.

The Grove

This outdoor mall has nice places to eat and many interesting shops to visit. No doubt you’ll have fun if you visit, but so will you at other places. You may enjoy visiting The Grove better if you want to shop or dine or participate in a specific activity.

Venice Beach Boardwalk

Over 10 million people visit here annually. Should you be one of them? Many people who visited here for people-watching had sad things to say about it. Their complaints ranged from illegal activities to distasteful behaviors. Being here can make a visitor feel uncomfortable.

Hollywood & Highland Center

Gary Minnaert (Minnaert))/Wikipedia

It’s also known as Ovation Hollywood, and while visiting there puts you on one of LA’s most recognized attractions, you should be ready to deal with crowds. If you’re going there to catch a glimpse of the Hollywood sign, you may be disappointed at how pint-sized it will be from your view.

The Paul Smith Pink Wall

Do you want to leave your hotel for the sole purpose of taking pictures on a pink wall? That’s fine. However, you may want to wait to do this when you have an activity that will take you past there. You may also run into crowds there because it’s a popular place for people to come for snapshots.

Angels Flight Railway

This activity is incredibly cheap, so it sounds like something to do. But, if not for bragging rights, it may not be as fulfilling as you think it is. It’s a short ride—less than a minute—and there really is no point in going on it multiple times.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

The list of famous people who rest in this cemetery is a long one. However, while some visitors find value in reflecting on the lives of those who have passed, others may feel that spending time in such a setting doesn’t resonate with their interests or experiences.
