Bank of America is quietly shrinking its footprint across the U.S., and some well-known branches have already closed their doors. Others are set to shut down later this year. These closures are changing how many communities access in-person banking, especially in smaller towns. Here are 10 states where Bank of America is cutting back in 2025.

California

Since 2013, California has seen more than 1,110 Bank of America branches close, more than any other state. In 2025, three more locations are scheduled to shut their doors: Huntington Beach in October, Camarillo in November, and San Francisco’s Powell Street branch in December. Moreover, the branch in Davis closed in June. Even landmark sites featured in Emmy-winning shows are no longer exempt.

Florida

As the second hardest-hit state, Florida has seen over 1,090 bank closures since 2013. That trend continues. Bank of America’s Wellington branch closed in May 2025, and additional shutdowns in Hollywood, Fort Myers, and Miami are reshaping how locals access in-person banking.

Illinois

Mundelein’s Bank of America branch, located near historic Route 60, officially closed in January 2025. Lake in the Hills followed soon after, leaving parts of suburban Illinois without nearby access. Since then, many residents have had to travel farther into Chicago for basic financial services.

Tourists along the Bourbon Trail and military families near Fort Campbell will soon see a change. The town’s only Bank of America branch, which served both civilians and active-duty personnel, is closing in September 2025. It’s one of just two BOA closures in Kentucky this cycle.

Once situated near a historic colonial-era building and a popular pizza spot, Lynnfield’s Bank of America branch at One Post Office Square officially closed in March 2025. After years of steady foot traffic, the Massachusetts location was among ten branches shuttered nationwide as part of the bank’s ongoing shift toward digital-first services.

Just ahead of Las Vegas’s fall convention rush, Bank of America will close its branch at 300 S 4th Street in September 2025. Located steps from the casino strip, this busy tourist hub adds Nevada to the list of ten states facing branch losses this year.

South Carolina joins the nationwide list of states experiencing major BOA service reductions. Locals who frequent Charleston’s spring art fairs may soon notice a difference. The Bank of America branch on Savannah Highway, near a 300-year-old live oak tree, is expected to close in October 2025.

Game-day regulars near Arlington’s minor league ballpark will need new ATM options soon. In a surprise move, the branch on South Bowen Road will shut down in September 2025. It’s Texas’s only confirmed BOA closure this year amid otherwise minimal cuts in the Lone Star State.

Set inside an aging 80s-era strip mall, the Burke branch on Old Keene Mill Road quietly served locals for years. However, as part of Bank of America’s national downsizing, the branch closed its doors in May 2025. Since then, foot traffic has dropped, affecting nearby businesses like the longtime deli that once shared its parking lot.

Seattle has now lost three Bank of America branches—located on Madison Street, Rainier Avenue, and Admiral Way—as of April 2025. Positioned near landmarks like waterfront cafes and lighthouse trails, their absence has left longtime customers adjusting to longer travel times and fewer in-person banking options.
